(male announcer) live from the bay area here is your kron 4 news >> good morning and this wednesday morning a public plea for people to come for would video, photos and any information that might help authorities learn more about the boston marathon bombings. the explosion killed three people and wounded more than 170. the fbi says someone knows who did this. they know the boston marathon bombs were contained an ordinary kitchen pressure cooker is loaded with shrapnel but they're still looking for the string method.triggering me

>> a picture that was sent in to aid to the aged in boston and showing what appears to be the second bomb on the sidewalk. right before it exploded. this is the one that one off 10 seconds and about a hundred yards down the course of the first bomb. it has not been released by authorities as to whether or not this second bomb was a pressure cooker device little with ball bearings and nails. we've heard from our cnn affiliate's that the pressure cooker lead on the first bomb has now been found on our roof of a building adjacent to where it exploded. this appears to show the second bomb right before it exploded. >> the bay area boy meanwhile was wounded in the blast is scheduled to go

surgery today. 11 year-old aaron turnhern of martina's was near the finish line cheering on his mother who was running in the race when he caught he was caught in one of the blast. he is in stable condition in intensive care unit. back in the bay area, his grandmother says she was shocked to learn what happens and grandson. >> he was bright, happy and very athletic played baseball, basketball, football. >> parents family will stay in boston for another week for follow-up surgeries. >> the city martinez is a close-knit community when word went out that one of

their own became victims of the boston marathon attack they sprung into action. the owners of the roxx restaurant on main street held a fund-raising dinner that was supported and promoted by the restaurant. people from all around martinez came up to support her family and to enjoy the meal. the owners of themroxx restaurants say they stopped counting meals once it hit about 150 people. all the food was donated for this event and all the money raised is going to help the hern family with expenses.

advisory is in place. >> we are waking up to plenty of sunshine around the bay area. it is definitely a bright start to the morning. crazy at times especially along the coastline but gradually warmer weather over the next couple of days. but his inheritance and under temperatures, 55 san francisco mid-40s out the door in the bottom. tracking the numbers into the afternoon coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> in just over two weeks since the bay area paramedic was murdered and now i arrests have been made. a paramedic shot and killed while riding in the oakland hills. the arrests were five boys ages 16 and younger. will tran is on the scene. >> new this morning the prosecutors will file charges against those five teenagers. they're deciding whether not to file charges

as a juvenile or adult. here's a picture of the off- duty paramedic, 34 year-old quinn boyer. he was in oakland at the time and the process of taking his father to the hospital when shots were fired. they made the final four arrest the same day he was laid to rest. here is a video of the scene on april 2nd. he was driving and stopped at a stop sign and that is once shots were fired. he lost control of his car and crashed into a ravine. the officers came out and look all over for several hours in water on able to make the arrests. these investigators are work and tips from the community and one person who literally saw the car's speed off. two weeks later they made a arrest, the first one on monday. they talk to the suspect and then the at bat suspect led them to the other four and made the arrest tuesday afternoon.

been cleared from the traffic lanes but is still on the shoulder and garnering attention. normal commute time would be about 11 minutes coming out of concord and leading down to the 24 interchange. it is going to take about 18 to 20 minutes this morning with the back up. we have wind advisories in place for the bay bridge where the backup is already right to the edge of the macarthur maze. drive times already climbed to over 18 minutes. also in effect as a wind advisory here on 92 at the san mateo bridge. it has had much impact on the drive time but it is a hazard for high profile vehicles over the high-rise section. here's lapierre: gate bridge ride, it continues to be a smooth commute both from and to marin county. >> the winds have died down significantly, in fact we're 10 mi. an hour wind is what we're seeing or below. it is

at at&t fiber optic cables affecting 91 emergency phone service in the south bay. an oil leak caused by gunfire has been contained by pg&e. meanwhile, santa clara county is handling emergency phone service for affected at&t customers. >> all lanes of highway 1 01 in san revell are reopened as morning after a pedestrian was killed after being struck by two cars. it happened last night near the junction road of north san pedro and highway 1 01 around 830. the victim was walking along the freeway and stepped out in front of an oncoming car and fell onto the road. a second car then struck the victim in the road and fled the scene. the victim whose identity has not yet been released was pronounced dead at the scene. >> britain's iron lady is being laid to rest today. world leaders and dignitaries from 170 countries are attending the funeral a former british prime minister margaret

adult. senator weicker has been assigned a protective detail. >> a deadly meningitis train has killed two men in southern california. health authorities believe this one is spread through intimate contact. meningitis caused swelling in the brain and is considered lethal if not treated. los angeles health authorities held a press covers the answer is saying that the two men who had recently contracted bacterial meningitis or both at a catering gathering of thousands of gay men and palm springs. they're offering free vaccines in west hollywood to anyone who thinks they are risk or had recent exposure. they're doing that at a clinic in las angeles. police determine that a bomb threat at a tv station in hollywood was a hoax. the lapd says someone called my will want to say they're going to detonate three

>> following the latest with the bay bridge and those bolts that were found to be defective. jackie sissel is discovering more about these boats and their history. >> there are new reports out this morning indicating caltrans actually ordered some tests as early as 2008 on those boatsbulletolts. 96 of these bolts were put into the bay bridge. as they were being tightened, 33 of them

actually it failed, cracked. the report today they say as early as 2008 there were questions about the integrity of these bowls and the manufacturer who actually made the bolts. that was the icing co. and ohio. caltrans ashley ordered additional tests on the bolts. they wanted to make sure that they were structurally it fine. for whatever reason, those tests were not done. one-third of the 96 bullets ultimately failed. why did tests were not done is obviously part of the investigation. how're they going to fix this? last week there was a press conference addressing this. they said their engineers are working hard to come up with a fix for it. ultimately, the big question is how will it affect the bridge? how will the opening of the bridge be affected by all of this? it is scheduled haul but on labor

>> the latest on mondays twin bombings at the boston marathon this morning federal agents are zeroing in on how the bombings were carried out. the motive though remains a mystery but the bomb was contained in a pressure cooker. here is what we know as of this hour. three people were killed, more than 170 injured. they do not know if it was foreign or domestic terrorism or why these bombs were set off. president obama is planning on visiting boston tomorrow said attend a service in honor of the victims. >> meanwhile, we're learning more about the victims of the bomb blast. 8 year-old martin richard and 29 year-

old krystle campbell and a chinese graduate student lu lingzi were killed and the explosives. 29 year-old krystle campbell was standing near the finish line when the bombs exploded. her mother patty campbell could not stop sobbing as she talked about how wonderful her daughter was. >> she had a heart of gold, she always had a smile, you could not ask for better daughter. i cannot believe this happened. she was such a hard worker and everything she did. this did not make any sense. >> several boston area public safety unions are offering a $50,000 reward leading to the arrest and
